John P. Robertson II, Esq. Of Counsel
Mr. Robertson graduated from Bucknell University (cum laude) in 1983 with a degree in English Literature. He graduated from The Dickinson School of Law in 1986.
Mr. Robertson began his legal career in 1986 as an Assistant Prosecutor with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, where his assignments included being in charge of the Juvenile Unit and then as a member of the (adult) Trial Team.
Since entering private practice in 1989, Mr. Robertson has devoted himself to defending individuals and entities accused of criminal and quasi-criminal offenses, including serious crimes, disorderly person offenses, domestic violence, motor vehicle violations (including fatal accidents and DWI), and juvenile delinquency. Mr. Robertson has also represented individuals who suffered personal injury and other losses as the result of the negligence of others.
Mr. Robertson has participated as a moderator or speaker in a number of legal seminars and programs focusing on various legal subjects, including DWI, juvenile delinquency, criminal consequences of substance abuse, and professionalism. Mr. Robertson has written articles on the expungement process and the collateral consequences of motor vehicle violations. He has been interviewed on cable television (“Legal Corner”) on the subject of juvenile delinquency.
Mr. Robertson is an active member of the Morris County Bar Association of the Morris County Bar Association (MCBA) and the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey (ACDL-NJ). Mr. Robertson is a past President of the Morris County Bar Association and a past President of the Morris County Bar Foundation. He previously served as a Trustee for both the Morris County Bar Association and the Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys – New Jersey.
Since 2013 Mr. Robertson has served as a volunteer attorney for victims of domestic violence as part of the Battered Women’s Law Advocacy Project (“BWLAP”), a program developed and administered by the Morris County Bar Association and Jersey Battered Women’s Services, Inc. He also served as a presenter and witness during the Annual JBWS BWLAP Training Program for new attorneys choosing to volunteer for the program.
In 2023, Mr. Robertson was honored to be recognized by the New Jersey Judiciary at a program in Trenton where he was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for “exceptional pro bono service to assist persons in need of legal representation and to support the judiciary in fairly and expeditiously administering justice.”
Mr. Robertson has been appointed to and is currently serving on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Municipal Court Practice (2019-2021; 2021-2023; 2024 - present).
Mr. Robertson has previously served as a member of both the District X Ethics Committee and the District X Fee Arbitration Committee.
Mr. Robertson has been selected for inclusion by New Jersey Super Lawyers in the area of Criminal Defense (2009, 2015 – 2025).
